The author responds to this question from the perspectives of over a decade ago, before issues of clergy misconduct had become so widely recognized and seriously addressed within most religious communities.  Today many denominations have specific rules that will guide their clergy (and interns!) in answering this question.  In general, dating within one's own congregation is now seen as imprudent, fraught with potential problems, and may violate the rules of a particular denomination.
